Cyberpunk 2077

Coming off their hit series The Witcher, CD Projekt is currently in the process of developing their next release, Cyberpunk 2077. Little is know about the upcoming RPG narrative but what has been announced is that the game will be set in the distant future. Likewise, the open-world gameplay will likely promise a wide variety of quests and campaigns for players to complete though that’s purely speculative at this point. With E3 right around the corner, we’re hoping some official news is shared on the upcoming title such as the narrative and possibly gameplay mechanics.

Psychonauts 2

Fans of the original Psychonauts video game can rejoice as the title will finally receive the much desired sequel likely next year. The video game will be following the events of the first title but also the events from the recently released, Psychonauts in the Rhombus Ruin which was a VR title that aims to bridge the first game and the sequel. Little is known about the upcoming Psychonauts 2 video game, though players will still take on the role of Raz with his Psi-Powers. Likewise, the narrative journey may open up some doors to the history of not only Raz but his family.
Anthem

After being delayed in 2018, Anthem is slated to launch in March of 2019. The video game is the next IP release under BioWare in which players are set to a distant alien planet being colonized. However, this alien planet is hostile with creatures lurking about. In order to keep humanity safe, players will step into the role of a Freelancer, a special task force that explores the world and take out the various threats. Likewise, this seems to be a game worth playing with friends with BioWare making mention of four-player cooperative gameplay. As it sits right now, Anthem could play similar to Destiny, though we’ll have to wait and see what new information is released into the public before we can really compare the two IPs.
The Talos Principle 2

The Talos Principle took a deep narrative and hid it under a complex puzzle journey. Players control an android who’s goal is to solve a variety of puzzles on an abandoned island, though as you progress further and further into the game, the true narrative and journey behind the android is unveiled. Since its release in 2014, the game was met with a positive reception and its been revealed that a sequel will be in the works, but no information at this time has been shared to the public.We’re interested in seeing if the narrative journey picks up following the events of the first title or if a brand new story along with new complex puzzles are awaiting the players arrival.
Session

Skateboarding video games have seemed to lost their edge this past generation of consoles. That may soon change with the upcoming release of Session, a video game being developed by indie developer Crea-ture Studios. This is a Microsoft exclusive so you’ll need to be on a Windows 10 platform or the Xbox One.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, developers are creating the game to be similar to the late 1990s and early 2000s skateboarding video game releases, such as the Tony Hawk Pro Skater lineup. Instead of a focus on a narrative or quest, Session is all about having a fun time as a professional skateboarder.
The Blackout Club

The Blackout Club is the next video game release under developers Question. Within the video game, players are encouraged to work together in a horror mystery surrounded by a strange occurrence. Teenagers from a small town have started to blackout and wake up randomly at a different location. With no memory of what happened during the blackout and failing to convince the adults of these random events, a group of teens must band together and solve the mystery.
This is a co-op style video game in which players can team up and carefully execute their plans to find out the reason for the blackouts and gather proof in order to share with police and parents. Currently, the video game is slated to launch at some point in 2019.
Rage 2

Rage is back with a brand new installment. Rage 2 will toss players into the role of Walker who is the last ranger. It’s your job to survive in this dangerous world after mutants flooded the world thanks to an otherworldly asteroid struck the surface. We also know that thirty years have passed since the events of the first Rage so you can expect to see a few familiar characters.
This is still a brutal FPS with an open world for players to explore, though information is still a bit scarce on the title. However, in past interviews about the game, Tim Willits, id Software a co-developer working on Rage 2, has stated that the developers are revamping the overall game with a better overall story, vehicles, characters and of course weapons.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see what information is slowly unveiled for this upcoming title but it already has us interested in checking the game out when it launches.
Afterparty

Night School Studio is gearing up for their next video game release, Afterparty. You may be familiar with their past video game release, Oxenfree which follows a group of teenagers who find themselves stuck on an abandoned island cursed by a supernatural entity.
However, within Afterparty, players take on the role of two young adults who have recently become deceased. With hopes of returning back to their normal lives, the duo is forced to explore the depths of hell and prepare to out drink Satan. Currently, the video game doesn’t have a specific release date attached quite yet, but gamers can expect a release at some point in 2019.
Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace

If you enjoy Lovecraft-inspired video games and board games then you’ll want to take a look at Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace. This is a video game title that is being developed after the Lovecraft-based board game. Within Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace, players take the role of an investigator during the late 1920s.
Set to uncover the mystery of an old mansion, players must explore and uncover the past horrors of the mansion along with solving a series of puzzles. Unfortunately, the video game doesn’t seem to offer a multiplayer option so this is a single-play experience.
Tunche

From developers, Leap Game Studios comes the upcoming title release, Tunche. The video game is a 2D beat ‘em up that follows the Peruvian legend of the same name. Apparently, within the legend, a mystical spirit lurks deep within the jungles, enchanting prey to come in with a whistling noise.
Luckily, players won’t have to go through the jungles alone as Tunche features a co-op experience. However, the game does have roguelike elements which means, if you die at any point during the game, you’ll be forced to restart the game completely. If you and a friend want to enjoy a challenge then you’ll likely want to pick this game up.
Resident Evil 2

Capcom is going back and giving Resident Evil 2 a proper facelift. The video game remake was announced a ways back but it wasn’t until E3 2018 that the development studio showcased the game with a trailer along with gameplay footage.
So far it seems that Capcom is retaining the storyline and key plot points from the original PlayStation release. However, besides the visual improvements, it seems that the fixed camera point of views has been scrapped for an over-the-should camera. The game will still follow storylines revolving around Leon and Claire as they make their way through a heavily infected Raccoon City.
Trials Rising

If you haven’t already played a Trials game then you’ll definitely want to pick up Trials Rising when it launches in 2019. The game was unveiled during Ubisoft’s E3 2018 press conference where developers promise much more chaotic and insane courses for players to complete.
As always, you’ll be controlling a motorcycle across several courses all while avoiding outlandish obstacles. Thanks to the motorcycle physics, players will make some over-the-top crashes. But with some practice, gamers can soon master each course after learning from past mistakes.
Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus will be set in the year 2036 which will follow the events of Metro: Last Light. Earth is still in shambles from the nuclear war as players step into the role of Artyom. During Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference we got a look into the world players will be diving into.
Much like the previous installment, players will find that the world is filled with hostile creatures and a variety of guns to use towards your advantage. Since the game is not set to release until February of next year, we imagine more information regarding the game will be unveiled at a later date.
Tom Clancy’s: The Division 2

The Division was a big hit as an online third-person shooter. During E3 2018, we got a look at the upcoming sequel, The Division 2. Players will find that the story will take place months after the events of the first title. This time around, it seems that agents of The Division are going up against a corrupt government, causing a second civil war within The United States of America.
Gameplay still seems to be focused around teamwork and a level progression system. Likewise, it was announced that during the first year of The Division 2’s release, developers will be launching three DLC packs which will include new story and activities. Best of all, these DLC packs will be completely free for everyone who purchases a copy of the game.
Wolfenstein: Youngblood

A new installment to the Wolfenstein franchise was unveiled during E3 2018. Players will find that this latest installment will not star BJ but instead focus on his twin daughters. Set in the 1980s, the twin daughters are fighting back against the evil Nazi regime.
While there haven’t been too many details released for this particular game, we did get news that Wolfenstein: Youngblood will feature a cooperative game mode. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait and see what else to expect from the game in the coming months.
Skull & Bones

Ubisoft did a fantastic job when it came to portraying a pirate’s life on the sea in their Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag installment. Taking most of the gameplay mechanics from the game, Ubisoft is gearing up for their next pirate-themed video game, Skull & Bones. Within the game, players will be set out in the open seas in order to track down profitable ships to battle and loot.
Players will take control as the captain as you steer the ship in rough waters while calling out shots to be fired at your target. There is also a bit of strategy to the game with ship upgrade capabilities and what appears to be a companion level progression for other pirate crews.
Devil May Cry 5

At E3 2018 Capcom showcased Devil May Cry 5. This title is set to take place a few years after the events of Devil May Cry 4 where players will be battling another demonic invasion with the help of Nero. Outside of what appears to be another fast-paced fluid combat system, we’re still left in the dark as to what we can expect to see when the game launches sometime in 2019.
Gears of War 5

The next chapter in the main Gears of War franchise is heading to both Xbox One and PC platforms within the upcoming year. Revealed during Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference, we know that the game narrative will follow Kait Diaz as she dwells into a personal journey. Within the game, we may uncover the truth behind the Locust as players gun down and saw through the enemy forces.
While this won’t be the only Gears title slated to launch in the franchise next year, we expect the main title installment will get more fleshed out details as we move closer to its release. Until then, check out the announcement trailer for the upcoming game posted above.
Doom Eternal

Get ready to step back into the shoes of Doom Guy as he battles a slew of demons in Doom Eternal. The sequel to Doom, Doom Eternal will take hell and place it on Earth with Doom Guy being humanity’s last hope in a saving grace. This will be another action-packed FPS video game that many of us can’t wait to get our hands on.
Currently, more information regarding the game is slated to release during QuakeCon 2018. As a result, we’ll update this list when new information after the convention unveiling.
Dead or Alive 6

Dead or Alive 6 is making a debut in 2019. Apparently, from what the developers have stated so far, we can expect less focus on fan service and instead anticipate a true fighting game experience. Combat will be brutal and tweaked to deliver competitive gameplay. However, we can only wait and see if the developers can deliver on their promise.
Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3 is heading to Xbox One and PC platforms in February of 2019. The video game will once again put players into the shoes of an agent who must fight back a terrorist organization. After years have passed since the events of Crackdown 2, a new terrorist group has successfully killed off the power for the entire world.
One of the big focuses for the development teams working on the project was a highly destructible map. As a result, players can expect some action-packed and chaotic battle sequences.
Since the game was first announced during E3 2014, we’re hoping that the gameplay experience can match the game hype leading up to its release.
Cuphead “The Delicious Last Course”

Cuphead brought back an old retro classic video game feel and vibe. Designed to be an old 1930s cartoon, players went through a game as a mug who must deliver a number of souls to the devil. However, each soul would be a battle as they are tucked away in a boss fight.
Majority of the game was centered around boss fights with players having to remember certain patterns and moves in order to progress. If you enjoyed the game then you may want to pick up the upcoming DLC known as The Delicious Last Course. This will bring in a brand new level with additional boss fights. Likewise, the DLC will give players a new playable character known as Ms. Chalice.
Dying Light 2

The sequel to Dying Light is launching in 2019. Once again, players will be fighting against a horde of undead with stronger enemies lurking out at night. One of the new elements that the game will be bringing to the table is the narrative journey.
This time around, within Dying Light 2 players will have some control on the story. Missions will give players more freedom in choice likewise there are dialogue options which can drastically alter your protagonist’s journey and gameplay.
Jedi: Fallen Order

We’ve been waiting for information regarding the Star Wars title Respawn Entertainment has been working on. After being announced that a project was in the works for a couple years now, we now know a few small details. During EA’s E3 2018 press conference, it was announced that Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars game is called Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
The game will take place shortly after the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith where players will take the role of a surviving Padawan during the dark ages. As a result, the single-player storyline will be mature and gritty.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts

CI Games is bringing out a new installment to the Sniper franchise. Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts has been announced for a release in 2019. The game will feature a number of missions that not only have the main objective but a few small secondary objectives to complete. Likewise, the development team is making a few small refinements.
For instance, the game will be dropping the open world environment that was present in Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3. However, the gameplay will still give players more of a choice on how they complete their mission. This may also bring over some additional replay value to different missions. Currently, there are not too many fine details regarding the upcoming installment to the Sniper series, but we’ll keep you updated on the latest.
Shenmue III

After what felt like eons of being stuck in development hell, Shenmue III will finally hit store shelves in August of 2019. This game has had a cult following for years with the first two titles being one of the more treasured video game titles of its time despite being a commercial failure.
Years later Yu Suzuki, series creator, unveiled Shenmue III during an E3 conference in 2015. Seeking help from the fans, the development team was able to fund the game production where players will follow Ryo Hazuki as he searches for his father’s killer.
Since the video game’s announcement we have been hit with a few delays with the title most recently set for launch in 2018. However, a new delay that will supposedly allow the developers to further polish the game has pushed the game back until August of 2019 for the PC and PlayStation 4 platforms.
Currently neither of the platforms offers any exclusivity to sway players to purchase a copy on the particular platform.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Led by former Castlevania series producer, Koji Igarashi, comes the upcoming action-adventure game Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The video game is in the style of Metroidvania as you explore, craft new weapons, and of course, find new armor.
The video game will follow an orphan named Miriam who has been cursed by an alchemist which is slowly turning her skin into crystal. In order to stop the curse, she must explore a castle to find the summoner of this curse, Gebel, who as it turns out had suffered the same condition.
Luckily, the video game is coming out for a number of different platforms so you should have no trouble getting the chance to enjoy the video game once it launches.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

FromSoftware, known best for their Souls series, has a brand new upcoming title known as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. This is a third-person RPG title with brutal samurai-style swordplay. So far we know that the game will have players take the role of a shinobi who finds his lord was kidnapped. During the scuffle, our protagonist was left battered along with his arm severed.
Thanks to a busshi our shinobi manages to keep his life. In place of his missing arm is a prosthetic that players will be able to equip different gadgets and tools to use again enemies. While the developers FromSoftware may be best known for their Souls series lately, it appears that the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be a bit different.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

The Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney video game franchise has been around for a number of years now and it’s grown to be quite popular. Overall, the game follows Phoenix Wright, a rookie defense attorney, who goes through various crimes to locate clues to use within the court trial. Overall, you can consider the game more of a visual novel with puzzles throughout.
Despite the first game first releasing into Japanese markets in 2001, gamers will soon once again get the game in a new compilation release. Capcom is putting out Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms sometime in 2019
Rebel Galaxy Outlaw

If you enjoyed Rebel Galaxy then you’ll want to take note of Rebel Galaxy Outlaw which is coming out in 2019. So far the details are a bit scarce but we do know that the game will take place about thirty years prior to the events of the first game where players will take on the role as Juno Markev.
Juno is a smuggler that ends up in debit with a casino in order to gain a ship so as a result we can expect the ship combat aspect to the game will still be a major component to the video game. However, it seems that the development team is looking to deliver a stronger narrative journey for players to uncover as they progress. Overall, the developers are taking all the aspects that made Rebel Galaxy work and further enhancing them in this upcoming prequel.
Judge Eyes

Sega has been teasing a new IP for a while now stating that the developers who were behind the popular Yakuza series have been working on a brand new IP. This project has apparently been in the works for over three years but we’re only just now getting a look at the game. Gamers can expect Judge Eyes to release next year.
There are still plenty of details that Sega is holding away from the public at the moment but during a PlayStation Lineup Tour event, Sega unveiled Judge Eyes. The game follows a lawyer who is seeking out clues in order to get at the bottom of a crime. Being that this is the development team who was also responsible for bringing out the Yakuza series, you can expect a similar combat system.
